The Global Fund Advocates Network (GFAN) Africa
OverviewThe Global Fund Advocates Network (GFAN) was established in 2011 to unite voices and efforts from across the continent in support of a fully funded Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Hosted by WACI Health and Impact Santé Afrique, GFAN Africa has built a continent–wide social movement that demands health for all by recruiting, connecting and mobilizing advocates to support successful replenishments of the Global Fund.
Informed by the Global Fund investment cases, GFAN Africa engages with implementing countries, donor governments, private sector actors, and philanthropic foundations to contribute to the Global Fund, so that resources raised are used to strengthen health systems, prevent new infections of HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, and save lives. GFAN Africa also leads civil society and communities in advocating for increased domestic resources for health.
GFAN Africa aims to maximise the impact of health investments and advance the right to health. To achieve these goals, the platform elevates and unites community and civil society voices across Africa.
Uniting Africa civil society and community voices on Global Fund Advocacy and increase in domestic resources for health.
Our Objectives
Support advocacy and resource mobilization – To empower and support GFAN Africa members in developing and implementing advocacy strategies on global health, Global Fund replenishments, and domestic resource mobilization.
Build the movement – To lead and expand the membership to build a broad base of support for the Global Fund with increased participation from advocates and affected communities in implementing countries, donor countries, and potential new donor countries.
Support action – To initiate and support powerful advocacy actions in support of investing in health and in the Global Fund at regional and national levels.

Campaigns
GFAN Africa brings together communities, civil society, parliamentarians, and other champions to advocate for investments in health. Whether pushing for a successful replenishment of the Global Fund, advocating for domestic resource mobilization or building support for the Global Fund partnership model, GFAN Africa campaigns are driven by the principle that health is a human right.
