Global Health Architecture Reform
Amplifying visions for global health reform shaped by the people it serves
WACI Health works alongside partners to advocate for a reimagined global health architecture that is shaped by civil society and communities from the start, anchored in regional health sovereignty and built on equitable, country-led financing and governance.
The current global health architecture is being rethought, and the decisions made now will shape health systems for decades. In 2025, as global health stakeholders opened high-level conversations on the future of global health architecture, civil society organisations came together to launch the Health Architecture Reimagined Civil Society Organisations Consortium (HEAR CSO). WACI Health is a member of its Steering Committee, alongside the Civil Society Engagement Mechanism (CSEM) for UHC2030, STOPAIDS, the NCD Alliance, the Global Fund Advocates Network (GFAN), the Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+) and the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC).
The Consortium provides civil society representatives and people affected by health inequalities across many health domains a dedicated space to develop their own vision and aspirations for global health systems and a platform to make those visions heard.
Purpose
What We Do
As a member of the HEAR CSO Steering Committee, WACI Health works with the other Steering Committee organisations to guide the Consortium’s strategic direction and ensure that civil society and community visions of a reimagined global health architecture are elevated and amplified.
HEAR CSO supports communities and civil society working across sectors and issues around the world to develop ideas, aspirations and substantive proposals to inform diverse convenings on global health architecture. Since its inception in 2025, HEAR CSO has held seven virtual regional convenings, facilitated national and global consultations, and sought feedback and ideas from civil society and communities through global surveys.
Insights from these consultations and surveys are brought together in reports and used to inform multi-stakeholder policy discussions. WACI Health contributes to this synthesis, and through HEAR CSO, has presented recommendations at major international policy moments, such as the World Health Assembly.
HEAR CSO also advocates for civil society and affected community representatives to be meaningfully included in global health architecture reform processes and discussions. To support this, it gives civil society representatives timely, accessible information on how to engage in reform processes at global and regional levels, along with analyses and consultation findings. These tools help representatives take part with confidence and carry key civil society and community priorities into the spaces where reform is decided.
